Writer, diplomat and translator of Witold Gombrowicz's works in Spanish, died at the age of 85 in Xalapa, Mexico. He has translated: Argentine Diary (Sudamericana ed., 1968), Comos (Seix Barral ed., 1969), Virginity (Tusquets ed., 1970), Trans-Atlantic (Barral ed., 1971) and Bacacay (Barral ed. , 1974).
In 2005, he received the Cervantes Prize, the most prestigious literary award in the Spanish-speaking world.
